The film is based on the life of Jackie Master Arora (Sharwanand), a Tamilian who served as an intelligence officer in Pakistan during its war with India during 1971. The two countries were at war for almost six years, but his wife Sonia (Regina Cassandra) was still working as a school teacher. But all is not well with the couple's marriage as Jackie's continuous absence has pushed Sonia to leave him, but she still doesn't know his whereabouts. The film is set in the backdrop of 1971 India-Pakistan war, where India was fighting for its freedom from Pakistani occupation. The story is about Arora who parachutes into Pakistan to gather intelligence. The principal photography of the film commenced on 25 August 2014 at Mumbai, India it is expected that the filming will last for Four months. Telugu actor Nani replaced Siddharth in the lead role on October 2014 due to his prior commitments. The team shot two songs in Switzerland on November 2014 at St Moritz, Arosa and Bern torg. The final schedule of the film was wrapped up on 24 December 2014. The Music Was Composed By Santhosh Narayanan and Released by Star Music, the official label for "Sagar Alias Jackie".
The film was released in both Telugu & Tamil on 26 March 2015. Times of India gave 3.5 stars out of 5 and wrote, ""Sagar Alias Jackie" is a brilliant retelling of one man's war against the evil forces which have murdered humanity in the name of religion." Firstpost praised Vijay Kumar Konda's direction by stating that, "He has a captivating narrative style that allows a leisurely experience without being slothful or dragging. He also shows a good amount of restraint in his narration." VFX work for Sagar Alias Jackie was done by Stereo D studio headquartered at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Stereo D is one of the top visual effects studio, their past works include Academy Award winner Gravity, Iron Man 3, Clash of the Titans. Director Vijay Kumar Konda had spotted Stereod's VFX team's demo reel which eventually lead to the collaboration on his latest project Sagar Alias Jackie. The stereography team has begun working on this film right from its pre-production stages. Lately they have completed several scenes including title track which was shot amidst beautiful mountains in Switzerland starring Sharvanand and Regina Cassandra.
